EVERY war is ALWAYS fought for someone’s gain!

EVERY war, fought for whatever apparent reason, is ALWAYS fought for someone’s gain!!

Religion, politics, liberty, living-space, ideology, survival, patriotism, nationalism, racism, slavery, etc are only emotional triggers to brainwash sheeple to stick bayonets into each other. Behind it all there is ALWAYS someone investing money to acquire weapons, ammunition, uniforms, supplies, etc with the motive of getting a good return on that investment.

Cui bono? (To-whose benefit?), is a Latin adage that is used either to suggest a hidden motive or to indicate that the party responsible for something may not be who it appears at first to be.
Commonly the phrase is used to suggest that the person or people guilty of committing a crime (e.g., a war) may be found among those who have something to gain, chiefly with an eye toward financial gain. The party that benefits may not always be obvious or may have successfully diverted attention to a scapegoat.

"God is Good"?

One of my Christian acquaintances wrote on their FaceBook profile:
“Thank you for the prayers.
My friend made it through the surgery.
God is good!”

But what if (as so many others),
that friend didn’t make it through the surgery?
Would that mean that God is not good?
That God is bad?
Or that people just didn’t pray enough
to make God be good?
Or that the doctors were bad?
But if doctors would get the blame in case of bad results,
Why don’t they get the praise in case of good results?
Or would the appropriate phrase in that case be, “Satan is bad”?

How about a reality check?
Though the friend screwed-up their body enough with a destructive lifestyle to need surgery,
apparently didn’t screw-it-up enough to croak yet,
and was thus able to survive the doctors?

Jesus=Buddhist; bk: "Living Buddha, Living Christ"

Subject: Re: Would b most interested to read your thoughts on: Living Buddha, Living Christ.

Vinnie,

I think very highly of that book. However, the last time I read it was in 2002, I believe. And so I don't remember specifics.
But I do remember a sense of enlightenment and confirmation that there is truth in all things.

Yes, I whole-heartedly agree. In fact I very often say that 80% of all religion is BS, and the trick is to distill the creative & usable 20% that actually works toward building indestructible-HAPPINESS. It is in the 80% that religions differ & fight & kill. In the 20% they agree (though they may be using different verbiage to explain it, and though little-brains insist upon emphasizing differences). As time progresses, little-brains pile-up their 80%-destructive-BS on top of the constructive-20% until one has a difficult time even seeing the 20%. JC had to deal with that:
Matthew 23:13 (NIV)
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the world of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.
Joseph Smith had to deal with that in the Restoration. Nichiren had to deal with that, and on & on.

Statement of the First Presidency of LDS 15Feb1978:
"Great religious leaders of the world such as Mohammed, Confucius, and the Reformers, as well as philosophers including Socrates, Plato, and others, received a portion of God's light.Moral truths were given to them by God to enlighten whole nations and to bring a higher level of understanding to individuals."
=============================================

I picked it up around the time I was taking a class in world religions for college credit.
I remember keying in to Buddhism (and some of Hinduism) the most.
I figured if I didn't know of Christ, I'd be Buddhist.

Ready for a surprise? Ever wonder why it was that,
though JC quoted lots of Old-Testament scriptures,
his teachings were so foreign to the ears of his hearers (even disciples)?
John 3 (VV)
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the Enlightened-world of God
unless they are born-again [enlightened, awakened, illuminated].”
10 “You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things?
11 Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen,
but still you people do not accept the testimony of our experience.
12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe;
how then will you believe if I speak of Enlightenment
17 God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
19 This is the verdict: Enlightenment has come into the world,
but people loved darkness instead of Enlightenment because their deeds were evil.
20 Everyone who does evil hates Enlightenment,
and will not come into Enlightenment for fear that their deeds will be exposed.
21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into Enlightenment [Buddhism],
so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

An LDS Video: Our Heavenly Father’s Plan (segment: 03:00–03:35)
says that the main purpose of life is to learn to live HAPPILY.”
I happen to agree strongly with that statement.

In studying the words of Jesus Christ carefully,
one can see clear references to some curious-concepts overlooked by most Christians:
born-again = new-creature = awake = enlightened = illuminated = enlightened-buddha-nature

1 Peter 1:23
Being born-again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God,
which liveth and abideth for ever.
John 3:7
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born-again.
John 3:3
Jesus said, Except a man be born-again, he cannot see the enlightened-world-of-God.
Luke 17:21
Kingdom[world]-of-God is
within you.
Nichiren:
“Never seek this Gohonzon-focusing-scroll outside yourself.”

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new-creature
old illusions are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Galatians 6:15-16
For in Christ Jesus neither avails anything, but a new-creature.
And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them.

Romans 13:11
Now it is high time to awake out of sleep.
1 Corinthians 15:34
Awake to righteousness, and stop with stupidity; for some have not the knowledge of God:
I speak this to your shame.
Ephesians 5:14
Awake you that sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you Enlightenment.

Ephesians 1:18-19
Eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of his calling,
and riches of glory.

Hebrews 10:32
Think back on those early days when you were first illuminated.
Remember how you remained full of Absolute-PASSIONate-Determination (faith).

And why did Jesus teach so many Buddhist concepts which had no precedent
in the tribal blood-sacrificial-cult of Israelites?
Because he spent at least a decade of his life studying, practicing & teaching among Buddhists.

"Jesus was a Buddhist":

only the portion from 40:37-to-41:50 is relevant

Relevant segment = 24:19—28:09

Relevant segments = 1:39—6:107:50—9:14
About the years of Jesus that are not written about in the Gospels.
=============================================

But finding that book was very fortuitous. It was great making some connections between the two.  Thick Nhat Hanh has a keen understanding of the attributes of Christ - more so than many Christians, I believe. I will say The Infinite Atonement by McCallister tops the list of bringing my mind and soul closer to Christ, butBuddhism helps quiet my mind and soul in a way that helps me receive the teachings of the Holy Ghost. I think the teachings of Buddha were, and are, one of the Lord's tender mercies for the people who know not of Christ.

Very interesting statement:
"Buddhism helps ... me receive the teachings of the Holy Ghost."
=============================================

Anyway, those are a few thoughts. Time and recollection prevent me from going into more detail.
Now is a good time in my life to re-read Living Buddha, Living Christ. And so I will.
Summer

From what I could read on Amazon.com sample-pages,
I also think very highly of that book.
It seems to point out congruity of the teachings of
Shakya--muni--buddha (ShakyaClan--sage--enlightenedOne)
and
Y'shua--meshiah-christos (Jesus--anointed-enlightened=buddha)
and their alike teachings toward:
ability to resolve-harmoniously what appear to be unsolvable-contradictions,
indestructible-HAPPINESS not-influenced by external-conditions,
serenity-of-beingness, &
wise-compassion;
my very goals in life.

Would b most interested in reading/hearing your new insights as you re-read it.

ValueCreation-Association

Do u see any value in building a sustainably HAPPY society, by exploring life-&-teachings of humanist authors and their philosophies & experiments w/o mythological mumbo-jumbo death-&-magic (but also w/o wasting time trying to un-convert non-humanists)? And if you don’t see hope for present society, do you see value in gathering individual strength for best chances of surviving the possible break-down of society, as well as building a constructive societal-infrastructure around which to form & grow civilization as it re-emerges out of chaos & anarchy.

         We enjoy:
turning on the faucet and having water come out with which to shower,
flushing the toilet and the sewage disappearing somewhere,
turning on the ignition and the car taking us where we want to go,
pressing a button and our favorite video program coming-on to entertain us,
opening the fridge and having all sorts of food to choose from
opening our closet and having a variety of cloths to choose from,
closing the doors of our residence and feeling safe from the elements,
using soft toilet-paper.

But all these amenities of life require people working together collectively.
No hermit, survivalist, loner, individualist, can:
process all the water for all his needs,
and make all his sewage disappear,
and build his own car from parts he made himself
from raw materials he mined himself,
and film all of his own movies to watch on video equipment he built himself
       from raw materials he mined,
and grow & process all of his own food from start to finish.
and make all of his own cloths from fibers he made himself,
and build his own residence alone from raw materials he mined himself,
and make own soft toilet-paper.

Get the picture? Even primitive societies traded, bartered because they learned that no 1 individual can build all the amenities of life for himself. Even during war people trade & barter. Even when social-order breaks down and low-lifes go on a looting rampage, they are looting stuff that someone else has built so they could enjoy other-built amenities. Even Kalahari Bushmen live in groups where they share responsibilities so that no 1 person has to do it all himself. Even devout hermits-survivalists-loners-individualists depend on something that someone else has made, be it weapons, ammunition, generators, cloths, tools, food, supplies, or whatever. I defy anyone to show me a viable number of hermits-survivalists-loners-individualists who do 100% of everything for themselves from scratch. And even if those do exist, how many of those who go around espousing that they are not joiners, could (or would want to) actually exist like that w/o a collective society to provide stuff & services for them?

Like it or not, admit it or not, we all depend on various collectives no matter how much some talk about being (or pretend to be) individualists. So at best we can strive to be a balance somewhere between total individualism (impossible/impractical) & total collectivism (dangerous – Communism-Socialism-Nazism-Fascism). So to practice the most efficient form of pro-survival, we probably ought to band (re-legion) ourselves in groups that are most conducive to our survival, while at the same time promoting as much individualism as practical.

The Soviet-Union is no more. Czechoslovakia dissolved. Yugoslavia is gone. Sudan split in 2.
The United-Arab-Republic is no more.
Half of Rwandans went after the other half to annihilate them
Half of Cambodians went after the other half
to annihilate them (www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Z1sj7gzpCk).
Where is the huge Enron & other top companies that have succumbed to the credit crunch and gone bust: Bear Stearns, Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, XL Airlines, K&S Travel, Silver Jet, Inside Track, Carlyle Capital, Wrapfit, etc.? U.S. is a great & wonderful organization, but as seen above, no organization is immune to falling apart. It takes people of good-will working together to keep things together. The U.S. may have its problems, but I’m sure most would agree, it’s still a wonderful place to live (otherwise they’d be gone somewhere else to live). Will the wonderful U.S. survive if everyone just lets someone else do it?

There are 2 possibilities before us. Society will either improve, become more civilized & sustainable, and survive & prosper, or it will degenerate into depression, chaos, anarchy, rioting, looting – a Mad-Max scenario
(www.youtube.com/watch?v=8k9yIp_h1Fw&feature=fvwrel). If civilized society does break-down and disappear for a while, those individuals will best survive who band (re-legion) together in strong symbiotic-mutualistic groups.
And for civilization to begin to re-emerge out of chaos, it will need a constructive societal-infrastructure around which to form & grow.

There are a number of well-meaning groups (some I could enumerate)
working toward a civilization of sustainable world-peace,
or training strong pro-survival individuals,
or building strong constructive societal-infrastructure
    for a possible future need.
But the one that I see as doing the-most in the direction of
working toward a civilization of sustainable world-peace,
plus training strong pro-survival individuals,
plus building strong constructive societal-infrastructure
       for a possible future need,
is the ValueCreation-Association (Soka-Gakkai). I recommend placing your hands on the rope in this huge tug-o-war between Builders & Destroyers
(hopefully on the Builders’ side).

Astrology

Isaiah 47:13
Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy … astrologers, stargazers, monthly prognosticators.

Jeremiah 10:2
Be not dismayed at the signs of heaven.

Daniel 1:20
In all matters of wisdom & understanding, that king enquired of them
[Vegans:
Daniel-Belteshazzar,
Hananiah-Shadrach,
Mishael-Meshach, &
Azariah-Abednego],
he found them 10 times better than all the astrologers.

Daniel 2:27
Daniel answered to the king, The secret which the king hath demanded the astrologers cannot show unto the king.

Daniel 4:7
Then came the astrologers; but they did not make known the interpretation.

Daniel 5:7-8
King cried to bring the astrologers, and said, Whosoever shall show me the interpretation, shall be 3rd ruler in the kingdom. But they could not make known the interpretation.
