"Turn to Jesus" Know him?!?

18.Apr.2016
Just curious B. What exactly does that sentence mean for you? "Turn to Jesus!" Can you put it into 1 sentence in a measurable way, so that someone who choses to take that advice knows whether he is or isn't "TURNING" to Jesus. Reason I ask is that I've heard so many DIFFERENT ideas as to what that means to different people.

John 17 verse 3 is what it means to me.

John 17:3 And this is the way to have eternal life: to know you, the only true God, & Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.

Ok, so to "KNOW" God & JC. What does it mean to "KNOW", and how does one know he "KNOWS"?

I've been a missionary overseas and have been asked that question by people who had no previous exposure to either. I, of course, gave them my instruction the best I could, but am curious what you would say to such a person.

How does one know he "KNOWS"? There are hundreds of Christian denominations, sects, & cults all claiming they teach "KNOWING" God & JC, yet they war on each other.

I was also asked, how come that in America which "KNOWS" God & JC there is soooooo much more crime per capita than in the land I was in which does not know God & JC, yet has so much less crime.

Well that is a good question. How does one know he is breathing air? We're told it's air so you have to have faith it is air. When you ask God for help to know him you have to have faith that it is he who is talking to you

How does one know another person? I think it is by studying his habits, talking to him, finding everything you can about them. Then you can make a decision about weather you know that person.

__How does one know he is breathing air? We're told it's air so you have to have faith it is air.
.
__Well, actually it is scientifically, empirically verifiable that by volume, dry air contains 78.09% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.039% carbon dioxide, and small amounts of other gases. It has weight and its effects can be measured scientifically. So seems I don't have to have "faith" [blind-believing] it is air.
.
__When one asks God [Allah? Vishnu? Jehovah? YHVH? Jesus?] for help to know him you have to have "faith" [blind-believing] that it is he who is talking to you.
.
__Which "he"? If one is raised in Christian world, one blindly accepts & believes that father-son-ghost are 1 god. If one is raised in Hindu world, one blindly accepts & believes that brahma-vishnu-shiva is the primary TRINITY which expresses itself as many gods. If one is raised in Muslim world, one blindly accepts & believes that ONLY “father”-Allah is god which is not composed of any 2nd & 3rd partner. They all have FAITH that it is "?he?" who is talking to them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_deities
.
__How does one know another person? I think it is by studying his habits,
.
__That is done through the major 5 senses: seeing another person, hearing another person, touching another person, smelling another person, tasting another person. If I wrote a biography about my long-gone great-grandfather and told you to know him, would you have FAITH that it is he who is talking to you?
.
__talking to him,
.
__Doesn't that kind of necessitate a LITERAL 2-way conversation? And what do we all think about people who hear voices? What if you heard God tell you to sacrifice one of your step-daughters? Shall we exalt Deanna Laney to the level of admiration allocated to Abraham & Jephthah, because in 2004 she heard God tell her to sacrifice her children? Ok, so allegedly God stopped Abraham in time, so we call that just a “test” of his “faith” (blind-believing). But he didn’t stop Jephthah, so Jephthah butchered his daughter and we have him in Bible as a man of admirable devotion to God?!?
.
__finding everything you can about them.
.
__From which source?!? All these claim to be inspired by God, and are accepted as such in faith by people raised in the areas where they are held sacred?!?
.
__Then you can make a decision about weather you know that person.
