To:
“Tell us your story,” the magazine says.
So I ask myself, ‘Am I a rebel-misfit, star-shaped peg trying to fit into a square hole?’
I tried so long to fit-in with the masses of Earth and not stand out,
but there is just so much patience I found that I could have
with the 80% bull-shit which is marketed out there under the label of “Religious Truth.”
How dare I follow my dreams of sustainable-progress towards GNH (Gross National Happiness),
when the MIC (Military-Industrial-Complex) has the world so well trained
to operate according to George-Orwell’s-1984 economic model of society?
How dare I be an innovating religious-philosopher on a road-less-traveled
and offer my unique perspective
when religion is probably M.I.C.’s most effective motivator to get sheeple
to mistrust, hate & butcher each other.
Is mine a beautiful-mind, or as deluded as the one in the movie by that name?
When the “destroy-economic-model” has worked so well for so long,
how dare I try to build peace?
Yet somehow I dare to “trout” up-stream expressing my unique perspective that religion is an art, and as “the-art-of-religion” it can be enjoyed through various art-forms concurrently,
instead of just one, abandoning all others.
Wouldn’t it be absurd for someone to say that the ONLY TRUE art-form is painting,
while sculpting, singing & photography are forms of apostasy?
So I’m daring to blaze the trail and share with the world the original concept
that religions can be enjoyed as performing-&-experiential arts.
And when little-brains stop fighting about which one religion is the ONLY TRUE art-form,
peace just might break-out bringing in its wake love of art, beauty, culture, truth & justice.
To give an example:
Apr2010—Sep2011 my wife Smantha & I visited
28 different denominations of
8 very different faith-group-categories:
5 Christian
4 Buddhist
4 Jewish
4 Hindu
4 NewThought
4 Humanist
2 Islamic
1 Sikh
Not saying that you, reader, need to do this also,
but in my particular case, I’ve gone a step beyond just visiting.
I concurrently hold memberships in all these,
apparently mutually-excluding “religious-art-troupes”:
Constantinian (Christian):
- Catholic,
- SDA,
- Congregational,
- LDS,
-Presbyterian,
- Anglican-Episcopal,
NewThought:
Interfaith:
- MECCLA (Middle-East Cousins Club of Los Angeles - Jews & Arabs together),
Humanist:
Sikh:
- Guru Ram Das Ashram Los Angeles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpeyGR3d7DU ,
Hindu:
Buddhist:
Muslim:
Jewish:
Ain’t that a hoot?
A guy who is simultaneously a Traditional-Muslim and an Orthodox-Jew.
Whose side do I take when they go to war with each other?
You don’t need to be as involved as I, of course,
but I do invite you, reader,
to visit religious “theaters” as you would any stage-theater, art-exhibit,
or culinary-arts-restaurant.
Expose yourself to new and strange performances & experiences.
Taste of various different spiritual “foods.”
Push your envelope, stretch your comfort zones, empathize with what others enjoy.
You’ll be the better for it.
