___ So, I keep on hearing
ridicule about Mormon underwear. Being a religionologist, I happen to know that
other groups wear special underwear as well, which remind them of their
religious obligations, e.g., Orthodox-Jews & Sikhs. How is it I never hear
any ridicule about those? When I googled the words, “religions that wear special underwear,”
everything that popped up was only about Mormons. Even when I added the words, “Orthodox-Jews & Sikhs,” still most of what popped up
was about Mormons. BTW, only about 30% of Mormons wear the special reminder-underwear.
___ And what’s so ridiculous about wearing special
reminder-underwear? Or for that matter, special reminder-outerwear? Or uniforms of any kind? Why
are Mormons isolated for ridicule and not everyone else who wears any sort of group-identifying
uniform?
___ Many Christian clerics wear funny collars, robes,
& caps. Amish dress 19th century stile, as do Hasidic &
Haredi Jews, and many Arabs. Other Orthodox-Jews wear a tiny cap all the time
in addition to special underwear. Many are reluctant to ridicule the burka worn
by millions of Muslim women, for fear that a suicide-bomber might blow
themselves up in their front yard. Then there are the Sikh special-underwear,
turban, & bangle. And how about all the athletes who wear matching
jock-straps or sports-bras? Street-gangs, of course got to identify themselves
by wearing certain colors. Then there are all the millions of people in
government-gangs (military) wearing uniforms, which, BTW, also include SPECIAL-UNIFORM-UNDERWEAR.
Rastafarians got to mat their hair, etc, etc, etc.
___ Getting my point? So go ahead and ridicule the
Mormons if you want, but give equal time to ridiculing everyone else who wears
any kind of uniform reminder clothing.
